Frances Ireland

Frances Valentine Ireland July 14, 1925 ? August 7, 2009 Frances Valentine Ireland, 84, of Huntington, NY died on Friday, August 7th in Huntington Hospital. She was born on July 14, 1925 in New York City as the only daughter of Inez Howell and Roy Hotchkiss Valentine. Her brother, Hugh Valentine is deceased. Frances married Lloyd Owen Ireland, deceased, on May 9, 1953 in Tenafly, NJ. As an adult, she completed her higher education at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY with a BS in 1983. Frances was for many years a licensed real estate broker, most recently at Coldwell Banker in Huntington, NY. For many years, Frances was an active member of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) serving in multiple roles including President. She was a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), Ketewamoke Chapter, enjoying many of the chapter?s events. She participated in numerous book discussion groups and investment clubs throughout her life. She enjoyed playing tennis and continued to play bridge with her friends. She loved to travel, taking her family to Europe several times, and ventured to Russia and China with her friends. Frances is survived by her three children, Paige Valentine Ireland of Alexandria, VA; Pamela Woodhull Ireland of New York, NY; and Randolph Lloyd Ireland, his spouse Katharine Taitt Ireland and their two children Kelsey Taitt Ireland and Megan Valentine Ireland of Camp Hill, PA. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, August 15th at the Old First Presbyterian Church, 125 Main Street, Huntington, NY with a reception at the church immediately following. The family will attend burial services at the Wading River Cemetery, in the town where Frances spent her childhood summers.
