Lawrence M. Famighette, 64, of Melville, NY passed on December 19th, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah, of 42 years, and his wonderful children Larry, Victor, and Lauren. Larry is also survived by his youngest brother Domenic, his grandchildren Vivienne and Lorenzo, his cousins, the children of Carol, Patricia, and Sally, his dearest family friends in the world, John Gormley and Bob & Joann Lancaster, and many other family members and friends. He is predeceased by his mom Barbara, his father Lawrence, his middle brother Matthew, his aunts Carol and Sally, his uncles Danny and Frank, along with members of the Matinale, Garaffa, and Norris families, dear family friend Robert Lancaster, and many friends. Larry was definitely welcomed with open arms by them when he reached heaven on Monday afternoon and reunited with his dog Eddie. Something tells his family heaven just got the best chef and the party is just about to start up there. His friends and relatives up there are all about to have the best Christmas Eve Dinner. Larry was born in Brooklyn, NY on February, 24th, 1958 and raised by his parents, aunts, and grandmother. He was the oldest of his siblings and cousins who he adored and loved greatly. He ran a coffee truck business for many years and married his beautiful wife on May 3rd, 1980. His favorite job in the entire world was being a father. He was the husband and dad who cooked you a gourmet lunch (eggplant parmigiana) to go to work or school with. Larry was a Giants and Bills fan. Larry’s interests included spending time with his family and friends, cooking, crabbing at Lindenhurst docks, fixing things, doing the daily newspaper maze, making fresh homemade tomato sauce every Sunday, and listening to music as well as attending concerts and shows (more cowbell). Larry was an extremely kind, loyal, down-to-earth guy who was funny, had a quick sense of humor, was always willing to help, and always showed up for you. He truly cared about all his family. Larry was an awesome husband, father, son, brother, cousin, and friend. Life had its ups and downs for Larry with his multiple health issues due to diabetes, congestive heart failure, and end-stage renal failure, but he always persevered. He put up a good fight until the very end and showed the true meaning of what it means to never give up. He will be truly missed by all who loved and knew him, but his family hopes he finally is no longer suffering and can rest easy. Visitation for Larry at the funeral home will take place on Wednesday, 12/28/2022 from 4 - 8 PM. On Thursday,12/29/2022 a funeral mass to celebrate Larry’s life will be at 10:30 AM at St. Elizabeth Church in Melville, NY. A Zoom link for the funeral mass on Thursday is below.
