Paul Francis Byrne

Paul Francis Byrne, 62, (“Paulie or Uncle Paulie”) of Huntington, NY, peacefully passed away on March 1, 2024, surrounded by family. Dear brother of John (Kathleen) and the late Kevin and the late Thomas (Diana). Beloved, devoted and proud Uncle of Carly, Kyle, Arianna, Molly, & Alexandra. Paul was born and raised in Huntington, NY to the late James and Irene (nee Peterson) Byrne. Also survived by loving cousins, especially Eleanor Sendkewitz (Barry) and Eddie Peterson (Diane). Adored by his “Family of Friends” at Finnegan’s and supported and loved by his colleagues at Dime Community Bank. Paul graduated from Walt Whitman High School, South Huntington, NY, Class of 1979 and SUNY Oneonta. An honored member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians and a former member of the United States Air Force. Paul, a genuine heart-warming friend to all, will surely be missed. Paul brought a lively and joyous atmosphere to all gatherings, whether it be the family’s Christmas celebration or an early evening laugh or two in his favorite corner seat at Finnegan’s. He had an avid passion for marching with the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Huntington’s Annual St. Patrick’s Day parade, coordinating his annual Thanksgiving “Pie–Run” to Briermere Farms for family and friends, traveling “North” for his summer-time trips to Saratoga racetrack, coaching Kyle’s little league games, attending his nieces’ dance recital/play, visiting Carly for tickets to their favorite shows, gathering for poker night with the boys, among many more. One of the “Byrne Boys” as they were infamously known, Paul was a tremendously caring brother and he loved sharing stories of past “violations”, mainly created by his older brother Kevin’s antics. There was the “fake lottery ticket”, the “help my friend move”, and the “ugly bird holiday gifting event”, to name a few. Paul was a senior underwriting specialist with Dime Community Bank, in Melville, New York. Paul was an avid New York sports fan, especially of the Mets and the Jets. He enjoyed going to the racetrack, playing cards, watching crime shows, and tuning in to classic TV episodes of Columbo, Perry Mason, and Hogan Heroes, among others. Paul was one of a kind, the best kind of friend you could ever have, never a bad word to say of anyone and we are all very blessed and better for having known him. We are forever grateful to those who have provided love, support, kind thoughts, and prayers during his illness and during this difficult time.
