Scott Saslaw

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Scott Saslaw, who on April 19, 2023 left us way too soon in his home in Huntington, New York. Scott’s departure came just three days shy of his 59th birthday, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Scott was an extraordinary father to his three sons, Justin Saslaw (Elizabeth Davis), Jonathan Saslaw, and Jason Saslaw, who were the center of his universe, and long-time partner of Jodi Saslaw. As a dedicated and loving father, he shared his passion for adventure, for learning, and for the outdoors with them, instilling a zest for life, a spirit of resilience, an insatiable curiosity, the importance of cherishing life’s simple pleasures, and a prodigious work ethic. A man of diverse and endless interests; he was a skier, a scuba diver, an aspiring pilot, a fisherman, and a boating enthusiast. His adventurous spirit extended to his love for fast cars, bikes, and motorcycles, always clamoring for the thrill of the open road. He found solace at the beach or lounging by the pool, or working on his boat, basking in the warm sun, with an ever-present tan. He was a skilled handyman and a constant tinkerer, eager to fix things or embark on new projects. From his time in Maryland, he mastered his signature dish, shrimp, which he loved to prepare for family and friends. Scott’s thoughtfulness, intelligence, and hardworking nature were matched only by his remarkable selflessness, kindness, and generosity. His heart of gold and warm spirit touched the lives of all who knew him, leaving a lasting impression. With his quick wit, and infectious laughter, he had a unique ability to make others smile, and never take himself too seriously. He would do anything for those he loved. As we mourn the loss of Scott, we take solace in the memories of his laughter, his love, and his unwavering dedication to his family, especially his sons. Scott will be missed by countless loving family and friends. Scott loved boating & clamming at Orient Point in New York. Orient Point is located on the eastern tip of the north fork of Long Island, is a natural wonderland of waterfront with 45,000 feet of frontage on Gardiner's Bay and a rare maritime forest with red cedar, black-jack oak trees and prickly-pear cactus. Great Blue Herons, Egrets, Black Crowned Night Herons, and Osprey are common sights in the park, leading to its recognition as an Audubon Important Bird Area.
