Carol Blauth
September 26, 1940 - February 5, 2022
Carol Wissmann Blauth, a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, left this world peacefully in the afternoon of February 5, 2022. Carol, well known for her loving hugs, her famous German Potato Salad, and her endless variety of homemade Christmas cookies, grew up in a lovingly warm and close-knit household of 8 children in Huntington, New York. She was born to Anna and Ludwig Wissmann on September 26, 1940. Carol was adventurous and loved cruise ships and travelled the world by plane notwithstanding her fear of heights. In her single days, Carol would ride dirt bikes and had a knack for finding mischief at the local dive bars of Long Island with her family and friends. This all ended when she met the love of her life, Paul Blauth, at a dude ranch in upstate New York. They fell in love and were married in 1976. Together they made a loving home in Lagrangeville, New York and raised their family. Carol delighted in her role as a stay-at-home mom so that she could keep careful watch over her flock. She was crafty, skilled and enjoyed painting ceramics, baking, and knitting. She knitted elaborate baby blankets and Christmas stockings for her extended family that they will cherish forever. Carol was a champion of cheesecakes, and no one every left her house hungry. Her deep love and loyalty to her family was apparent and appreciate by all. Carol started her career at All State Insurance and worked there for over 20 years. After leaving All State to raise her family, she volunteered with a variety of groups including meals on wheels, community theater, Arlington PTA, Girl Scouts, Arlington Marching Band Boosters, March of Dimes, Election Poll Registrar, Germania German Club, AARP Tax facilitator, and Davis Studio. Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Ludwig and Anna Wissmann; and her siblings, Robert Wissmann, Marilyn Spiegel, Joanie Wissmann, Richard Wissmann, Thomas Wissmann, and David Wissmann. Carol is survived by her husband Paul and their children; Cheryl and her husband Matthew Moore; Kathie and her Husband Brian O’Shea; Christopher and his wife Beth Blauth & children; David Blauth; and Peter Blauth & children; her sister Barbara and her husband Richard Kraese; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, godchildren, and close friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Hudson Valley Extended Care and Rehab in Highland NY as well as Hudson Valley Hospice for the care they gave Carol during her final days. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 from 3-5pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Visitation will also be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at A.L. Jacobsen Funeral Home, Inc., 1380 New York Avenue, Huntington Station. On Saturday, February 12, 2022 there will be a gathering of family and friends at 9 am at the A.L. Jacobsen Funeral Home, Inc. followed by a prayer service at 9:30 am. Burial will follow at Melville Cemetery in Melville. The family asks for masks or facial coverings to be worn at all times.
