Tuhn Hom

May 25, 1931 - March 16, 2021

On March 16, 2021, Tuhn Hom passed away at the age of 90. He was a loving husband and supportive father of two daughters. Tuhn was born in Canton, China and came to the U.S. in the 1950s. He began his successful restaurant career, working at two very well-known and beloved Huntington Chinese restaurants, Mei Ting and Sun Ming, which led him on a path to opening his own restaurant, Ho Wah in Farmingdale in the 1980’s. Tuhn was successful in his endeavors due to his work ethic, natural business instincts, an entrepreneurial spirit that was in line with his unabashed willingness to take risks, and strong interpersonal skills. He was a role model of hard work for his family and many friends along the way. He married the love of his life, Showon Ng on August 18, 1963. Together they raised two daughters, Jeannine and Audra. Married when he was 31 years old, Tuhn was known to marvel at his good fortune and say that he never expected to have such a wonderful family and life. Tuhn had many passions and interests—cruising the world with his wife, following the stock market and watching sports, especially college football and his favorite Clemson Tigers. Throughout the last ten years living with progressive Parkinson’s, his mind remained sharp as a tack, maintaining the easygoing, kind, and strong man we have always known. Tuhn was preceded in death by his father (Theodore P. Hom), mother (San Ngan Ng) and beloved wife Showon. He is survived by his two daughters, Jeannine Lee and Audra Boni, his son-in-laws Ka-Shu Lee and Andrew Boni, four grandchildren, Courtney, Ryan, Maia, Marisa and his favorite chicken-loving puppy, Tinker. If you would like to honor Tuhn, please consider making a donation to Parkinson’s Foundation New York & New Jersey Chapter online or via mail: Attn: Donor Services 200 SE 1st Street Suite 800 Miami, FL 33131
